Rayakottai is one of the protected historic monuments. Rayakottai is a hill fort which withstood the Mysore wars. It was a strategic fort for the British, who stationed at this fort till 1861.
It is now one of the protected monument by the Archaeological Survey of India. In the 18th century Hyder Ali and Tipu sultan ruled this fort. Trekking in this place is a wonderful experience.
20 mins walk from the farm:
A small waterfall located amidst beautiful lush scenery, its a short walk from the farm; its a fun spot to check out.
15 mins drive from our farm:
The Varadaraja Perumal Temple is located in Shoolagiri. This temple is an ancient and reputed Vishnu temple.This temple has been constructed by many kings over a period of time. Arjuna is said to have consecrated this temple during the exile period in Mahabharata time.
This temple provides a peek into history and is a surreal experience.
20 mins drive from our farm:
Shoolagiri derives its name from the 3 adjacent hills that look like a Thrishul/Trident from a distance. Built in 1985 on river Pennayaru, this earth dam is 415 meters long, 25 meters tall, with a catchment area of 143 sqkm. This offers great picnic spots and beautiful lush green scenery.
Enroute to our farm, 30 mins by drive:
Considering that the Hosur region is mentioned in ancient Hindu texts like the 'Bhadragiri Mahatmyam', a part of Brahmanda Purana, a shrine for Shiva is deemed to have existed here from ancient times.
The temple has grown during the time of the Cholas, Hoysala and Vijayanagara Emperors. This top of this hill offers beautiful views of the town and lush greenery around it.
This temple is located on a hill flanking Hosur, opposite the Chandra Choodeswarar Temple. Steeped in history, its a beautiful view up a short climb. You should combine this with the Shiva temple visit as they are close to each other.
45 min drive from our farm:
Krishnagiri Fort, is a formidable historical stronghold that has witnessed the ebb and flow of various dynasties and colonial powers. This fortification, now preserved as a national monument under the auspices of the Archaeological Survey of India, holds a rich history dating back centuries.
You should combine this with a visit to the KRP dam nearby, which is flanked by beautiful scenery and lush green fields.
Within 30 mins drive from our farm:
There are a few biking trails around the Sanamav Reserved Forest flanking our farm. While AllTrails.com suggests hiking and exploring, Sanamavu is not primarily known for designated trek trails. However, check out Bala Kondarayana Swamy Temple trek, of moderate difficulty suggested by AllTrails.
15 mins drive from our farm:
At a short drive from our farm, these are two sweet spots unblemished by the crowds; small beautiful falls along the river surrounded by village temples and lush forests. Sit back and tune into nature.
